Automated FTP

Hello,
I'm working on a project requiring remote FTP to a central server. Is there software available to:

-automatically connect to our academic server
-transfer some files (probably around 35-75 Megs)
-verify transfer
-delete the source files

I know there's a lot of FTP software out there, I'm just hoping someone can help me narrow down the list. Freeware would be nice, but reasonable license fees might be possible too. Anybody have some suggestions on what to check out first?

See if Filezilla will do what you need. Being open source, I would think it could be customized.

Thanks for the reply glc. Congrats on 15000 posts incidentally.

I will check out Filezilla. The team working on this project has very little programming experience, so hopefully it can do what we need pretty much out of the proverbial box.

15,000 is only what is shown here. The real post count is probably about 10 times that.

Did some research into Fieizilla, only to find out we need to use SSH for our academic server. The SSH program the IT department recommends is a barebones program with almost no options. Is there a similar program for SSH available?
