Question

May I get your opinions about the pros and cons of the programs?

IMHO, Real Player is good for streaming video, but for overall picture quality, Quicktime is the best. Are you making a video for yourself or for in the internet? Do you want to download the videos and watch 'em? The thing I don't like about quicktime 4.x is that you have to regester it so you can download a movie, maybe you don't but that is what is happening to me. HTH

For the first time ever, the Nebraska/San Jose State game will be broadcast live via the internet through Foxsports.com. It requires Realplayer8 or Quicktime, so I have a choice to d/l.
Realplayer8 is the one I'll go with.
Thanks for the help.

Your welcome, but you might want to try both. It might look, sound, or just be better on one than the other. I guess it is all a personal choice. HTH

Well, after visiting foxsports.com and seeing thier movies, I believe that quicktime was the best player of them all. Then Window's Media Player, and I thought that Real Player was the worst. Like I said, it is a personal choice. HTH.

P.S. The main reason I said that real player is the best is because I saw a bunch of South Park shows on Real Player and they looked and sounded great. I guess it depends on the quality the people make it as.

Well Jetblack69, I d/l'd em both. I'll give each a fair trial and then delete one.
Now I've got to learn how to use them.
Carl
P.S. Thanks again for your help.

I hate Real Player.
Be careful while installing "Real" Player because you'll have shortcuts on every corner of your desktop, will start while your PC is booting up, will try to connect to Internet to check for upgrades without asking you want this or not, etc, etc. Symantec type bloatware.

I had d/d'd "Real" Player7, my systewm became messed up, could NOT listen to music normally anymore.
Reinstalled Win fresh without installing "real" player, no problems at all with the sound of my PC.

"real" player tried to sue MS because of their succesful Media Player- which gives you no problems at all[as much as I know].

Don't know much about Quick Time.

Gintaras,
You are right!! Something else it does is load comet cursur into your system. When you uninstall, it warns you about removing shell extensions and that other apps may not run correctly. The shell ext is comet.dll. I went into the registry and deleted it.

Gintaras,
Look into Ad-aware 3.61, you can get it fir free at www.lavasoft.de/ It removes all instances of comet and others. Its small and free. It works as good as Optout.
