Thumbs down

I have an ongoing problem from all the "free" ISPs that I've tried that are powered by 1st-Up. The ad bar is stuck on the top of the screen and I cannot move it down no matter what I set the "docking" at. (The choices are Top, Bottom, and Disable.)Whenever you try to move it down it pops back to the top. I've tried Alta Vista, Freelane, and Myfavoritei, with the same problem on each of them. I've e-mailed 1st-Up with the problem and they just send me an explanation on how to change the settings(which don't work)I would like to use one of these as a backup ISP but they interfere with buttons on top.

I've recently had to go back to Ad Bar Free ISPs, as FreeWWWeb went south. I tried loading First Up (through Address.com--which used to give me excellent service), but I've had that same problem, except the ad bar is stuck on the bottom! I just uninstalled it!

I use Alta Vista, Juno, and FreeInternet as my ISPs. I haven't tried any exceptionally long downloads with any of these characters. But "regular" service with any of these is as good as any I've paid for.

I do have a 19" monitor, which helps with the banner thing. The banners are buried in my toolbar so they don't bother me! Juno's ad banner fits in the toolbar best! It's a bit wider, but not as tall.......

I fixed the ad bar problem by removing the offending ISP program and cleaning out the registry. I then downloaded the program again and registered under a different name and password. Now everything works fine!

Also, I've been using IE 5.5, which seemed to make everything lock up. I uninstalled Address.com, repaired IE 5, and reinstalled Address.com. Everything seems to work just fine.

I remember Address.com giving me good service before.........
