Internet Speed

I just updated my Comcast Internet speed to 8X768 but not sure how to tell if it's working at that speed.

Is there a test you can do to measure the speed your getting from the modem?

They did not replace my old Motorola Surfboard modem SB4100 I thought they would.

Thanks
Steve

This is the one I mostly use:

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Just hit 7182 up, 380 down, and have no idea what I'm suppose to get... I know it's should be at least 6000 up, but heard rumor they upped it recently. Either way, I'm happy

My download speed was 7676 kbps
My upload speed was 722 kbps

Why is it so different, shouldn't it be close to the same?

Thanks for the web sites
Steve

If you're paying for 8Mb down and 768Kb up, then you're all set. Upload speeds are throttled way down for consumer connections to discourage hosting websites.

Yes, I believe I went from 4 to 8. So this looks good then? I want to make sure Comcast wasn't scamming me. Not that they have done it before

Thanks

Those results are fine. There is always a slight overhead, thats why you won't see exactly 8Mb, but enjoy the speed.
