How to save a web page

I am trying to save a part of a web page, or even the whole page if needed. I do the usual right click on different sections of the page, but when the drop down menu appears, the choice "SAVE AS" does not appear. The web page is actually a collage of pictures from other locations. I tried highlighting the portion of the page that I wanted, but that did not work either. I also tried the choice of "SELECT ALL', and that did not work. Somehow I did save the page to a folder I have setup. But when I open the folder I see a rectangle with the Internet Explorer logo in the center of the rectangle. If I click on the rectangle, the page does load, but I think it is going to the site and loading the picture, because another tab opens up on IE7 that I am running with XP Pro. I believe it is a .MHT file or something. I Googled .MHT, but all I got was a list of the programs that do NOT work or open it etc.
I even tried sending the page to myself at different computers thinking that maybe I could save it that way, no luck. I really would like to save the page if possible before it is replaced. I was able to print the portion of the page I wanted, so at least I have that. All suggestions are appreciated. Mike

File-Save as

I usually save it as a complete web page. You can try the other options.

Thanks for the reply, Lespaul20, I tried that. That is probably how I got the rectangle with the IE logo inside it, in the folder I made for it. But I think it is only saving the path, because if I close off the Internet, and then click on that rectangle, the web page does load, but that is because it is going to the site to get the picture (I think, or am pretty sure). I guess I could pull the ethernet cable out from the back of the computer to see if I am correct.

Update--I pulled the ethernet cable from the back of the computer, and then turned the computer on. I then saw the little icon on the lower right side of the task bar saying there was no connection etc. I then clicked on that rectangle with the IE logo in it. Then up at the top, in the address bar, I saw the words "Connecting etc" I knew there was no connection, so I expected to see the usual "Page not found or whatever" because there was no connection. Then the page DID load ???? I guess it IS actually saved in that folder. I then tried my usual home page on the internet, and then I did get the "Page not found etc" Confused, but happy that I have it saved, Thanks, Mike

Lespaul20--looking at your avatar (I guess that is what it is called) reminds me of the old Gibson Les Paul Junior guitar I used to play back in my younger days.

In order to save a complete web page for offline use in your hard disk, you may use an offline browser. One free offline browser can be found at: http://www.httrack.com/
