Question

Not exactly sure how to explain this, so please bear(??) with me. I was at my parents home today and their Norton Utilities was showing it needed updated. I logged on to the internet and ran the Live Update. It retrieved the items that needed updating. I checked all the boxes for the updates to be downloaded. Now the problem. It just stops downloading. They have tried on previous occasions and got the same results. The little tv's just completely stop doing anything. They thought they were doing something wrong. I logged off and back on several times and each time the same result. I tried checking just one box and tried to download them one by one, but again, it just quit sending and receiving. At one point, I had a browser screen open and tried refreshing it to perhaps coax the Live update to continue downloading, but even the page I was trying to refresh, timed out. I tried refreshing the page without the Live update going and it would work fine. It appears to be just doing a download that it quits working. Is there something in the settings I need to change? Could it be their internet provider or Symantec's page having problems. I have Norton System works on my computer and do not have any problems at all getting updates. They live in a small town with only one internet provider and only have a connection of 28800. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have run into this same type of problem many times utilizing Symantec's LiveUpdate even on high bandwidth connections. Sometimes I just wait until the next day and it goes through fine. Sometimes I only have to wait a few hours.

It could also be a case where the LiveUpdate utility itself is the problem. I would go to Symantec's site and hit the download section to grab the latest version of LiveUpdate directly from there.
