Hi,
Did you by chance run a spyware/anti-virus check before you installed SP2? It is possible that windows' winsock layer somehow got corrupted during the upgrade or from spyware. First see: http://swatrant.blogspot.com/2005/08...ws-xp-sp2.html which is based off the following Microsoft KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259 (see the instructions for Windows XP with Service Pack 2) Hope this helps and let us know how things turn out. |

Might also try defragging your hard drive. Things might have gotten a little jumbled and broken up after installing all those files in SP2.

Floppy:
I did find an interesting new boot error flag. Is THIS related to winsock: wf2kcpl.dll ??? If you don't know what it is, where do I go at Microsoft to find what it is? Still working on it... H |

No, that's your video card tuning software. If you do not have a Leadtek Winfast video card, then it's malware.

G: I used to have a winfast card before I rebuilt the whole machine.
Seems like a power 'bump' due to a local Ice Storm, lasting half a second took my mobo down. I tried a new PS: nuttin. Tried the old winfast card up at the PC repair shop, it was fine. Decided to buy a new mobo with pci express 2 and that really fast gt8800. After the build, things were so to speak just screaming along super fast. A joy to be sure. NOW, I open a page in firefox and wait, wait and wait for a full page. Same thing over on IE7 - just unrepentingly SLOW... Winsock must be AOK, cause I do get a fine connection on email and Itunes app. I think somehow this SP2 security must be somehow causal to slowness. Any other thoughts? Thanks! H |
