Question Internet Explorer loading problem

My problem is that IE 7 loads up extremely slowly when I first use it after PC power up. In some cases this can take 3-4 minutes. BUT...........when it does finally display my Home Page, every subsequent page come up without any bother at all.

I thought this might have something to do with my Java installation as this problem appeared to start just after update 3 auto-loaded, but I've un-installed Java completely from my system and the problem still exists.

Would anyone have any ideas???

I run Windows XP with Service Pack 2 plus all auto updates and Panda Antivirus 2008. I also regularly run Windows Defender, LavaSoft Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy

Are you trying to start IE as soon as you see your desktop, or are you giving all the other programs time to start up before you click on IE?

From power on I'm waiting until all other disk activity has stopped

However, most of the time, I will be doing other things prior to needing net access.....Still takes 3-4 minutes.........

Ok. Try deleting all temp files, and resetting the advanced settings.

Also try turning off the pop-up blocker, and the phishing filter. Also turn off any add-ons you have.

See if that makes a difference. If it does, then systematically turn them on and see which one is causing the problem.
