Internet Connection Problem
Here's a thinker.... I recently built a computer for a friend of mine. He ordered Road Runner cable internet, and it worked fine for a few days, until it started to get really slow, and now he's at the point where he can't connect at all... except through clicking a link via a program.
He installed a program called weatherbug (i'm sure some have heard of it, it gives you the latest weather in your area) and the only way he can access the internet is if he clicks a link from that program. If he just opens IE from the desktop, it will never find the server no matter how many times you try. Any ideas how he can fix this problem? |

When I and others I know, first got Road Runner we at first had slow connections or even no connection until we called them out to remove older traps and stuff on the television cable coming into the house.

Get rid of the Weatherbug - and download Ad-Aware and run it. Then scan for viruses and trojans with an updated scanner and get a firewall such as Zone Alarm. Cable connections are favorites with hackers for slipping garbage into your system.

they've had a firewall installed, a good one, since I built the computer, so I don't think thats the problem.
