Angry Fire Cannot Uninstall Windows Live Messenger

This is probably the most unbelievable exercise I have ever gone through with a computer. This reminds me of the old SNL skit, "The Thing That Wouldn't Leave."

I read earlier posts and have tried everything suggested.

1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Remove Windows Live Messenger - Did Not Work

2. Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Left-Hand Column -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Unchecked Windows Live Messenger - Did Not Work

3. Start -> Run -> RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove - Did Not Work

4. Went to the Programs folder on my hard drive, found the folder titled "Messenger" - Did Not Work

After each attempt, I do a full restart, and upon startup, there it is, just like before! It opens on my desktop and is ready for use!

I really want this gone. Any ideas on how to uninstall this monster?

Unhappy

Thanks much for the tips. I went to this link and executed the instructions meticulously. Unfortunately this did not work. I then went and re-read some older posts on the same topic and followed down to even manually editing my registry per one set of instructions. That did not work, either.

In the words of Jesse Ventura, this thing is "...dug in like an Alabama tick."

If anyone else has additional suggestions, I would love to read them. This is really perplexing.

Please donot touch your registry if you are not sure about it. As far as our windows life messenger is concerned, it is built in with WinXP thats why its not uninstalling.
