Internet Connection Monitor
Can anyone suggest any programs that can monitor which applications may be using the internet connection?

Get a free copy of Zone Alarm Firewall or better yet a free copy of Sygate Personnel firewall. Both will list the applications that try to accesss the internet. Sygate keeps better traffic logs and has a screen which allows you to see programs as they access.
