HI Fellow PCers,
I have this problem on my wifes pc that I think is related to the connection part of the dialup properties... (I guess) The problem is when you get connected and start to open a browser it keeps asking to "work off line" or "connect" even though it is online. I know it is something small cause I have fixed it before but I can't remember how!!!! pre-Thanks for any help!! Edit!!! It say's "try again" not connect!! More info on the problem!!
My edit time run out run out so I am posting a reply to help explain it better!
I get this box that shows up sometimes I am in line that says: Work Offline No connection to the inteernet is currently available. To view Internet content that has been saved on your computer, click Work Offline. Click "Try Again" to attempt to connect. [Work Offline] [Try Again] I am on line at the time and it doesn't happen all the time. Does this mean that there is a setting in the connection that I have missed or something??? Thanks again!! Scotty PS: I won Ghost 2002 on Computer Talk America today so mabey it will help me with some of my crash recovery problems huh!!! |

What kind of connection do you have?
Go through your internet wizard and follow the instructions. If your using a dial up connection how many do you have listed? Need more info.

Its your PPPoE software thats the problem, not Dial-Up networking etc. You probably are using Connection Manager/NTS/Enternet, right?
RASPPPoE is much stabler, lighter and more seamless to use, which means windows will actually know that you are online not offline to every program. Download: from http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/%7Enormanb/ PS: If you are using Win98SE you also need a patch for Windoze that has prblems with NDIS drivers .. http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q243/1/99.ASP Uninstall all the network protocols and adapters that NTS uses (just remove anything that is not: Client for Microsoft Networks Network Adapter (name) Dialup adapter TCP/IP -> Network adapter (name) TCP/IP -> Dialup adapter reboot and then follow the directions listed here or in your downloaded zip file: http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/%7Enormanb/README98.HTM |

Still there!!
I have tried everything here, even went and reformated and reinstalled windows on a smaller hdd that I have. It seems like it is in the settings that are in the connection configs that give you the option of staying online or hanging up after a while but how do you set it up without installing a modem!! I even tried installing a usb modem to try to fake it out but all that does is mess with the default dialup settings. It doesn't do it right off the start but after six or eight links that you go to, then it starts popping up! It wouldn't be so bad but after a while it starts acting like the connection gets slower and slower till I can't even get a browser to open. What the heck over!!!!!
