Contacting a website

Not sure if this is the correct section but anyway...

A website that advertises a taxi company in Vancouver has an incorrect phone number listed. The phone number listed is actually my friend's home number and they get calls at all hours of the day and night from people wanting to order a taxi. This is a big inconvenience for him and his family.

I've contacted the taxi company and they were surprised by this website since it does not belong to them. They promised to look into it. It has been a while and the website is still up and the phone calls continue.

They are not native English speakers so I am trying to help them out.

This is the website: http://blacktopcheckercabs.supersites.ca/contactus/
They actually have too many digits (I guess the "0" should have been a "-"). How can I contact the website owner/host and have it either taken down or corrected?

What other options do I have?

This link shows the same phone number:

Black Top & Checker Cabs Ltd
Golden Years of Service
777 Pacific Street
Vancouver, BC V6Z 2R7
Phone: +1 604 731 1111
Fax: +1 604 681 9894
http://www.marriott.com/city-guide/c...ctionId=372887

So does this one:
Black Top Cabs
(604) 731-1111

Have a feeling your friends needs to get a differrent number....

The number is listed all over the place:

Like EzyStvy said, the best route would probably be for your friend to get a new number.

604-731-1111 is the correct number for the taxi service.
604-731-0111 is my friend's number.

the website i linked has the number 604-73101111 which is too many digits and if you dial it then only the first 10 digits register and you get my friend's number.

surely something can be done other than my friend changing his number. can i create a webpage that advertises a taxi service that i have no affiliation with and post someone's number and have that person get calls at all hours of the day and night?

You can fight it and in several years time you could probably get all of those sites changed. The best is to change the phone number.

You can put whatever you want on a webpage, so long as it doesn't break any laws and you don't get caught for it.

If you do something like that with malicious intent, rather than an unfortunate mistake or typo, there's a chance you could be charged with harassment.

I would have your friend forward the calls to another Taxi company and have the new taxi company give you a cut every time they get a call from the forwarded number. With cells phones you could have it set to ring at your cell first then forward to the other cab company if you didn't answer. You can answer the phone when you know its your friends (Caller ID) and let it ring through with any other numbers. Plus if the cab company is cool they could take message for you JUST in case it is someone trying to reach you. make some money=)
