Speaking of Chrome

Who here likes the browser. I downloaded and think that it pretty good. I like how it shows the screens of your most visited sites when you open a new window. Pretty fast and looks simple. Could it give Firefox a run for its money?

I like it also but the one thing that will stop most FF users from switching is extensions. Most people are so used to their FF extensions that they couldn't imagine surfing without them. It will be quite awhile before we see Chrome's true potential I believe.

EDIT: Some speed tests are out

What, no opera?

Personally, I'm miffed since a lot of the features that have already appeared ages ago in opera are only now appearing in firefox and this new Google Chrome browser.

AND...google gives no credit to opera. Only firefox.

At least on my computer I see two issues- it is hit or miss loading or opening web based .pdf files and it often crashes when opening the radar page on weather.com.

However, the web based online course program, Blackboard, works with Chrome but not with Firefox.

I booted to XP just to check it out. there's no Linux version available yet. It seems to run faster than IE or FF. But what I really like about it is, each tab runs as it's own process, and if you click on one of those web pages where some idiot has a poorly written js script that calls some flash video that locks up your application, it won't crash the whole app, just that tab.

There are certainly a number of innovative features of chrome I'd like to see appear in other browsers. One of the major things that bugs me about the browser are the big brother features.

I loaded Chrome and liked it until I found the spyware, "doubleclick" cookie on my computer. Looked for a way to block it and other cookies that I didn't want to deal with and found out its a block all cookies or none. Wrote their support and got no help. Spyware Blaster doesn't work with it and it looks like Ad-Aware will only find the cookies if you do a complete scan. Its gone for now. I'm not going to deal with the crap cookies that I haven't had to put up with for a couple of years now.
Maybe I overlooked something but I'll stay with FF3 or IE7 with the capabilities of blocking what I want with each. Seems to me that Chrome is lacking this one great feature the others have.

If you accept cookies with any browser and visit a site that's running ads, you'll see those cookies detected in anti-spyware apps. That's not a big deal.

I have my browsers set to wipe out the cookies when it closes.

I know Chrome has the option of refusing cookies, but I can't exactly recall if you were able to dump them on exit or not.

On both IE7 and FF they have a feature that will allow you to block individual cookies. Both of them have a default list they start with which can be added to. I add them as Ad-Aware and other programs identify them. When they are added, they are never seen again. I like the feature. I also run Spyware blaster which works with the 2 biggies also. Not so with Chrome.
I think the bata has a ways to go to catch up is all I'm saying.
I agree that there is a feature to dump all the cookies when closing but I have several forum and other sites that remember a ton of stuff that I don't want to dump with the cookies. Maybe the next release but not now.

I hate it. Crashes on install, etc. I like Avant now. I even like it more than Firefox 3.
