Firefox crashing constantly

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem I am.

I am running Firefox 3.0.1, or was until about 10 minutes ago, but it has crashed on me 20 or 30 times just today. It's usually when trying to play a video. I started using FF because it didn't do that and it is a lot safer than Internet Explorer. I downgraded back to 2.0.11.

Anyone else having their browsers crash?

Was it always crashing on the same site?

Did you try to restart your computer?

You might have had a bad install. You can try reinstalling. Also check out Google's just release browser Chrome. It will import all your FF bookmarks and it seems to be a very nice browser so far.

Most of them were but even visiting sites like newegg gave me a tough time. I would try to open a page and FF would crash

I know with IE, when this happens, I just clear all the browser cache, and cookies, then stay away from that site for a few hours.

Does that usually take care of the problem?

I've tried restarting but FF still crashes

Usually after a few hours, I can go back to the trouble site, and it will be fine.

You could also have corrupted plug-in code. You could try re-installing Java and Flash.

I see the logic here but I don't have any trouble with FF 2.

Does FF 3 use a different plug-in...?

I know that on my linux set up, FF2 worked perfectly with flash, but when I installed ff3, it didn't. It took a while for them to fix everything.

So that is worth a try.
