Att
I know that this is an elementary question and I should know the answer but I am concerned. I understand that ATT may start limiting the amount of downloading you can do monthly or charging for going over a certain amount. I am concerned not that I download much which I do not. I do not download movies or music or the like. However what I do in abundance is watch streaming downloads of live baseball and hockey games regularly, approximately three hours a day.
My question is since I am using bandwidth to do these things will I be liable for the extra charges that may come with excessive downloading or is streaming downloads a whole new ballgame as it were. Thank you in advance. The Rev. |

Thank you glc for your answer. I will explore other options. Or perhaps the extra fees will not be prohibitive.

You can find software to monitor your own useage and get a good idea of how much you're using

Thank-you, I will find the software and monitor. Perhaps I will be within the extra charge limits of ATT.

From what I can find, the limit is going to still allow a pretty good amount of downloading. I don't know how much your 3 hours a day would come to (those monitoring programs will tell you though), but it looks like they're talking about setting a 20 GB per month limit on the slowest DSL service plan and it increases up to 150 GB per month for the highest speed plan. So, depending on what you subscribe to, your limit will be different, but even if you're on the slowest plan, 20 GB a month works out to around 650 MB each day. Most of the articles I read said there would probably be an extra charge of $1 per Gig that you go over your limit.

Juppy,
I apologize for taking so long to acknowledge the information that you have given as I have been busy. I did take the advice previously given and installed a meter. I watched an entire hockey game the other night and it was approx. 2 G's. I subscribed to the highest that ATT offers so if they indeed set the limit at 150 G's I should be clear. Thanks again all. Hey, no biggie on taking awhile to get back here....alot of people never return at all to let you know how it turned out!
So, getting back within a week, that's pretty good.Yeah, from the sounds of it, you should be fine unless they decide to REALLY lower that limit. Glad you got it sorted.
