PS3 Network connection
Not sure if this is the correct forum or not. Please move it if it is not. Thank you.
Well after 2 years of playing PS3 I have decieded I want to try and play online. I just found out there is a wireless option to connect to the internet. I am having trouble setting it up though. I have gone through the whole set up, PS3 detects my network (SSID) and I put in my WEP Key (allthough I am not sure I am doing this part correct)**. I basicly allow PS3 to do everything else automaticly or leave it on default settings. When it gets to the test connection screen, however, I am never able to obtain an IP. I dont have the faintest idea as to why. Is anyone familiar with setting up a PS3 wirelessly to the net that my be able to help me? Thanks, LA22 **I am not sure on the WEP. My router is set up for WEP but for my router I have to put in a phrase to generate 4 keys. Do I just use one of these keys when asked for on PS3? EDIT:: Now I am pretty sure I am putting in the WEP correctly but now I am getting a message on my computer talking about an IP conflict. I am also getting a communication error on the PS3

Yes, you must use key #1. You cannot use the phrase.
What exact model router do you have? What exact model modem do you have? Is your computer set to static IP or is it getting IP automatically? What is the IP of your computer? Are you telling the PS3 to obtain an IP automatically? |

I figured it out.
I finally was able to get a connection, get the update, and play a game online (allthough it did lag a bit) All I had to do was disable the UPnP setting. Thanks for the response. |
