I have IE7 and Firefox both installed on Dell 1505E laptop with Core 2 Duo running 2.0 ghz and 4gb pc5400 memory and 200GB HD. I like to play on Iwon.com and neither will go to the site. I have placed iwon in trusted sites and made sure it's not on restricted sites, but neither will go that site. I get no error messages , the page I'm on stays. any ideas??

Several people have posted problems using FF & Windows 7. The forum is pretty scattered but there is a lot of 7 info there.

IE7 and Firefox won't allow website
I don't know enough about computers to know what host files are. That's the main reason I joined PC Mech. I know someone can help me. What are hosts files?

Long definition:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file Short version: Set your folder options to UNhide extensions for known file types. Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc Open the file in there just called HOSTS (no extension) in Notepad and examine the entries. If there is ANYTHING in there except LOCALHOST and 127.0.0.1, you may be getting redirections. |

IE7 and Firefox won't allow website
Hosts file fine-nothing out of ordinary- when I put in www.iwon.con into address window nothing happens- I stay on the site I was on - I'm not redirected anywhere.

I get domain not found when i try that link.
It did offer this as a alternative: http://www.iwon.com/home/home.jhtml See if that helps. |

IE7 and Firefox won't allow website
I tried http://www.iwon.com/home/home.jhtml- nothing- I can't understand it- I have my settings identical to my desktop PC and it goes there with no problem- It's just my laptop- I made sure that ALL settings are identical on both. I'm stumped

That is pointing to a DNS problem. Flush it again.

IE7 and Firefox won't allow website
Completed cmd-ipconfig/flushdns 3 times rebooted- IE7 still only goes when IP address is entered- will not go if www.iwon.com/home/home.jhtml is entered. Firefox easily goes there now. Just IE7 won't go

Do you have problems with any other sites ? Is your laptop getting its DNS settings through DHCP ? If yes, could you try entering your ISP's DNS settings manually in your LAN connection ?
