annoying popup
I keep getting this annoying popup messenger window from restorefix.com
it's designed to look like a system message, but it's obvious that it's an ad. I have messenger service disabled. the popup happens whether or not my browser is open, just when I'm connected to the internet. can anyone suggest what to do about it? I've gone to their website and complained, they just reply with a message to turn off messenger service (and buy their software).... |

Are you positive that the service named "Messenger" is DISABLED? If so, time to do malware scans and make sure you have some kind of firewall.

A firewall is not enough. Use an anti-malware program to scan your computer (e.g. spybot s&d). It is free.

I finally got all my updates, which include sp 2 and 3...
I'm not sure what did it, firewall is now set up too. haven't seen that pesky popup since.... thanks all- |
