Slow Firefox and Internet Explorer
Hey guys, a couple days ago my firefox started running extremely slow. I figured it was just because I had a lot of them opened and many of them had tabs too. So I got rid of them and restarted my computer. I opened up a new firefox and it's still extremely slow. I tried internet explorer and it's really slow too.
I have a DSL connection that's usually pretty fast, a core 2 duo processor and 2 gigs of ram on XP. I just ran a virus check which came back clean. I also ran Spybot and CC Cleaner so spyware and registry errors shouldn't be a problem. Web pages usually come up almost instantly for me even with many tabs/firefoxes open. Now they take 10 seconds or more with just one firefox up. Any ideas what the problem could be? Every other program seems to work fine and my computer in general seems normal except for my browsers. Thanks for any help. |

Did you reboot in between? Are you sure that firefox got closed? Close down firefox and check your task manager to see if firefox is still running. If it is, close it down.
If you did reboot then maybe you have a problem with one of the add-ons .. try running firefox in safe mode. Go to Start > Run > C:\your\location\firefox.exe -safe-mode The location is usually in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ but replace it with your location. |
