Flash drive for web storage

I was thinking of trying something.

I got an 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro USB flash drive and thinking of using it for my web server this would replace the hard drive 10GB that is used for web space but only problem is the USB card I put it it don't work for some reason but this really don't matter and don't have $$$ for a new one but the USB 1.1 does work so what I need to know...Will the flash drive work faster then the hard drive even if it is connected USB 1.1 to server? If it does how long would the flash drive work and/or last meaning won't it ware out with all the reading and writing to and from the flash drive?

Thanks for the help

A USB drive running at 2.0 is slower then an internal drive....So a 1.1 will be even slower.
