I just purchased a new Gateway laptop and it came with Windows Vista, Home Edition and IE 8. One glitch is that every time I open a browser by clicking the IE icon, it opens TWO browsers (two tabs). The problem is that the tab on the left of the pair of tabs invariably "Cannot Open" (it appears to be trying to log into GlobalSuite or some nonsense), while the right-hand tab opens to my home page successfully. I then have to close the left tab because it is useless.
How do I get the IE icon to open to a single browser/tab? Thanks.

IE ->Tools->Options->General tab -> delete the first "Home Page" link.
