IE display problems

I'm using IE 5.5. I'm having a problem where when I view a website, all the images are usually broken and a lot of the times I get a "cannot find server" page, then I re-fresh and the page loads. This has happened to a lot of people I know. Upgrading my verison of IE doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas on how I can fix this? I've tried eradicating MSIE and re-installing, but that didn't work either.

thanks

Try decreasing the size of the temporary internet files folder so that your pages refresh more often,8-10 MB should be enough. Also check how often MSIE checks for newer versions of web pages: use the "automatic" setting first .. if that doesn't work try "every visit to the page" or "every time you start internet explorer"...To get to these settings from the MSIE menu bar select Tools>Internet Options .. then under the "Temporary Internet files" sections use the "Settings" button. Hope that helps.
