Streaming Audio and 64 Bit System

I've been trying to get streaming audio from one of my favorite sports sites and finally received a message that I must use a 32 bit browser on my 64 bit system.
I use Firefox, have the latest Flash installed and can't get the stream to run.
My question is, is Firefox a 32 bit or 64 bit browser?
My system uses Win Vista Home Premium.

I did get it to stream on my 32 bit Acer laptop with Win 7RC.

TIA

Carl

Firefox is 32-bit, as far as I know. There is a separate port project for 64-bit.

If the stream needs flash rather than Windows Media Player, the issue might be with flash, since there are 32 & 64-bit versions of that. Or, if it uses WMP, it might be an issue with that.

Can you post a screenshot of the browser when the error pops up?

Either way, it sounds kind of odd. It's not something I've heard of happening before.

I hope this link works for you FF. It looks like the problem is Flash Player but it still claims that will work on a 32 bit browser.

Basically, that says flash runs in 32-bit mode. The only thing that's 64-bit is the O/S itself.

Very odd.

Guess I was mistaken about seeing an official release for a separate 64-bit download of flash.

You are not mistaken FF for a while adobe was claiming they had a release of flash that worked in the 64 bit browser but I could never get it to work, finally they scrapped it.

I could be doing something wrong. It should be working with Firefox on this 64 bit system.

As long as I can get my streaming on the laptop the emergency is over.

I had the same trouble using IE 64bit with sites like Hulu.com - wouldn't run. Vista 64 has both 32bit and 64bit IE browsers. Hulu works fine in the 32 bit version. I know you're using FF, Kubie, but just thought I'd throw this out for general info.

PR, when I first got this pc I noticed that there were 2 versions of IE. One just said Internet Explorer and the other, Internet Explorer 64 bit. When I clicked on the non-64 bit IE, nothing happened. I looked in the Control Panel and couldn't even find either one listed. Confusing to say the least. Anyway, I went to the MS site to see if I could down load a 32 versions and when I tried, it said it won't work with a 64 bit system.
My question now would be, can I do a Vista repair? Which brings up another quandry. I believe this came with came with both the recovery partition and re installation disks.
I'll look further into that.

Unfortunately, Vista has no repair feature like XP has. It's a wipe and reinstall.

No problem, I guess. I can still get my streaming on the laptop.

When I get my Win7 upgrade, I'll be changing from Vista anyway.

Thanks all for the info.
