IE Explorer 8 will not connect to web

Windows XP SP3. IE 8 will not connect to web, Firefox does. IE 8 will work on other accounts. MS 0ffice 07 will not display pictures. Tried many online recommendations to no avail. I'm Using Avast free home version and could not find any relevant settings.

Thank you all for your help

Works in admin but not the others AND you haven't checked the others? So how do you know it doesn't work

While loggin into another account look in IE's tools->options->Connection tab->LAN setting button and make sure nothing is selected.

No, it defaults to automatically detect settings for every new account you create. This can be problematic.
