Get away with it. I bet you just came over from Netscape 6 eh ? compared to that anything is fast.
Depends on what o/s your using in conjunction with IE6 and OE6, if your still using 98 don't laugh too much just yet, they seem to be unstable when put together. Actually IE5.5 SP-2 is a better deal for 98. I cant complain as I'm using XP so IE6 is standard equip there, and seems to be very stable, all the buttons and knobs work just fine. |

Netscape? What the $#@@!! is that? LOL. I used NS when I traded stocks online....lost a fortune!!! Actually, I've used I.E. for years and didn't think much of 5.5. I'm still running win '98, but so far so good on 6.0. I've found using dsl for the past 2 1/2 years has greatly reduced my I.E. problems (can't remember the last time it crashed or froze).

I have win 98 and ie6 and I have to admit I've had a few times ie6 has shut itself down.
However it does seem to do it more gracefully than I ever remember ie5 or 5.5 crashing (they usually took down the entire system). ie6 just offers to send an error log to M$ and then shuts down the window and reopens another. |

Don't have any problems running IE 6.0 + OE 6.0 on Win98 - never crashes or alike - don't know what you are talking about and I'm surfing say for ten hours a day - same for Win2K the one I use here - ...It's the fastest Microsoft browser ou there - forget about Netscrap..

I'm not having any problems with IE6 and Win98 but then again, I didn't have problems with the earlier versions either.

Hpro, if your surfing for that long every day maybe its time to get a job eh ?
I might be onthe computer a long time each day , BUT I AM WORKING, well sometimes when not answering silly questions. If you read more carefully you will see that I dont use Netscape, I do indeed use IE6 on XP. The comment I made regarding Later Netscape versions is very true, However I used to be a Netscape user before they lost the plot and made their browser so slow and unrelyable it was not an option to use, with their earlier versions they were indeed faster than IE at the time, and dont worry I did all the tests to prove it. If it works for you, thats great, I'm so happy I might even wet my pants. lol. BUT When it does crash remember I told you so. Many people have had the same problems I did (when in the old days I used it), and should you download any m/s security updates for your Windows 98 and IE6 then the ***t will fly I almost guarantee it will crash, and often. You have a nice day anyway. Last edited by Terrorbyte; 11-26-2001 at 09:50 PM. |

A day has 24 hours - 10 hours on internet leaves 14 hours - 4 hours sleep = leaves 10 hours in this 10 hours I do what you call Work -
Oh BTW I have my own business , no that's not true - I have two businesses... and some of my work is related to internet and some of this time is made on Win98FE with IE+OE 6.0 - no crashes - what so ever - and in case it crashes - I can assure you that I know how to take care of it.. More, I also did all the security upgrades and it still doens't crash - same as on the Win98SE computer.. OH and one more thing - this Win98 configuration of mine runs for over 2TWO YEARS without to crash - going up from IE4.0 to IE 5.0 to IE 5.5 through all the betas of IE 5.5 and also through all the betas of IE6.0 - still doesn't crashed one time.. If this doesn't crash on my computer it doesn't mean that it will not crash on someone elses computer - OK? As the same counts for if it crashes on your computer then this doesn't mean that if have to crash on someone elses computer . It's so easy..Right?? Different hardware different users make the difference.. Quote:
For me it's a pleasure to answer the questions someone doesn't know - and I think there are no silly questions as if there were some - this would be for sure a cruel world..Questions are here to ask - and to get an answer so how those question can be silly ?? To answer aquestion there has to be the knowledge - so if someone has all the knowledge in the world he can get and he don't tell it to the other fellows which are in need of it - so when this someone has to give up the spoon - what for he gathered the knowledge in first place? This is the question to answer by each and every individual... Anyway the netscrap wasn't pointed at you.. OK ?? Just for global knowledge.. |

well said Hpro. It's rather pretentious to predict that anothers puter is going to crash simply because of another users experience. Also, refrences to incontinence do little to add to one's credibility. I use to trade stocks online for a living (yes, I was a daytrader). I.E. served me well when I had thousands of dollars on the line. I push my system hard; I.E.'s stability is the least of my computing worries (everything else should run as smoothly). IMHO.

Thats great, if your happy then I will have to be happy for you too, sounds like your a pretty important fella so I wouldnt wish to waste your valuable time surfing the net and counting all those dollars.
Too good for me I'm afraid, but then I dont have to brag, well not to you anyway. But seeing as it's after 5pm here, it's on my time now and I have to count all my money too. So, CYA. Last edited by Terrorbyte; 11-27-2001 at 01:22 AM. |
