Windows live mail

I use Windows live mail, with a hotmail address. When I go online I have the usual folders. ie inbox, junk, sent, deleted.
For quite a few years I have had two folders with personal items stored in them.
On Friday the 6th August, I logged in as usual, and then found that both of the self created folders had gone. I did not delete them, and NO ONE else has access to my hotmail.
Can anyone throw any light on this problem please.

Thanks in advance
Jack

Look at the list on the left of your screen. Under the heading of the area where you had your folders it's likely you have a square 'bullet'. It should be a triangle. Click on it and that will list your folders. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the prompt reply, but I have every folder except the vanished ones. I have used the "bullets" to view or hide as you suggested, but it looks like they have permanently gone.

Mine have been 'lost' a couple of times but they are still there. Don't recall how I got them back. I HATE Live Mail!! I'm looking for a better solution to email now.

Is this anything to do with that problem that cropped up a little while back where Hotmail lost everyone's email from their inbox?

I use the online version of mail, so system restore will not help.

Thank you for the reply anyway.

That is one of the best recipes for disaster. I know hindsight doesn't help your current problem, but you can prevent it from happening in the future by using a reliable mail client that stores your mail locally. Outlook 2010/2011 should serve your needs. You cannot be at the mercy of the service providers: they can lose your mail anytime and will not take responsibility for it, and even if they did, that still doesn't bring your data back from oblivion.

A good FREE mail client is Thunderbird.
