Exclamation How to connect a server on Cable line

I have a Cable modem and I am putting together a HTTP web server for my personal use, I was thinking that I do not know how can I connect this server to the interner by using my cable modem. Is there a way to do that? any ideas anybody? somebody told me to get a router but I do not know if that is the solution.. Any suggestions??? thanks

Hi vividor, welcome to the PC Mech forums!

A router would be the best solution in this case becuase it will allow you to share the cable connection between two or more computers, and you can also re-direct specific ports to the server and block others (firewall). Take a look at Linksys or Netgear, they're the top two brands in my opinion.
