Question Registering a website w/search engines

I did a site for my unle who is some Civil Phd but he can't seem to find it under any search engine. When I finished it, I handregistered it with all the commonly used search engines. I know some of them said it might take up to 4 weeks to process it but it's been over 6 months now he still can't find it and neither can I
I put the metatags in his page header and everything and it still won't come up on any search engine

Do any of you webgurus know any good submission companies that I can pay to but make sure it does get submitted? All my hard work is useless if even we can't find his website. What's the trick here? Am I missing out on something?

BTW here is the URL if anyone is interested.

Hi Alex,

You might want to check out the search engine submission tips at this site:

I havn't used any submission services, but I have looked at Submit It! before and it looks good (run by Microsoft):

Hope that helps.

I've posted some Q about submittingf site to search engines awhile ago.

A was, best it to do manualy to each search engine.

Yes, it may take 6months before it appears on search engine. Nothing much you can do about. I don't think- it's most important site on the net that you've created.

However, Google does very good job by finding items even item isn't in keywords.
I sold a few LP albums from my site(don't click below my sig, it isn't working anymore), people who found items on my site, all said they did it with Google.

One of the first things that you could do is to register your own domain and have it hosted somewhere. It is more difficult for search engines (some don't even bother) to spider to sites like Angelfire. As has been mentioned it takes time to get registered with the search engines. Some like Goggle are fairly quick in indexing. Others such as MSN, are very slow to be updated.

Having a good domain name and descriptive meta tags help a lot. Getting into Yahoo and Altavista will help you eventually get into every other major search engine.

I launched a web site two years ago that had the perfect domain name and good and descriptive meta tags. The site made it into Yahoo Español (site is in Spanish) in about one month and Altavista a little while later. Once it appeared in these two places traffic started pouring in. Over time every other search engine has it. The most common keywords used to find it bring it to the top of the list in Google and other popular search engines.

I didn't pay a cent for that. Takes time but six months should be plenty of time.
