Logmein questions
I installed it at home the other day and then on two computers (the secretary's and mine) at work. I have hers set up as a separate account, but was also able to use the trial pro version to connect her computer to my account.
1. I have had problems on both computers in the letters I am typing showing up as numbers and symbols. Is that a matter of numlock being on there or something? It doesn't seem to matter whether capslock or numlock are on on my cordless or netbook keyboard on the home computer when trying to access the work one. 2. I haven't been able to see for myself, but is it possible for me to be working under one user account while she is working on another? 3. If we are both working, is it like Remote Desktop where she can see what I am doing, but both have control of the mouse (meaning she can override)? 4. If I am signed in on an account, would it be signed in where someone could access the computer? (Say if I were logged into my account would someone technically be able to walk in my office and do things on my computer? 5. Are there reasons to be concerned in the security of my computers or doing things like banking on one (if not connected via logmein at least)?

I did find a way of remote desktop connections from within a internal network that created 2 sessions so that one machine could be accessed by 2 people - all this was done through RDC in Windows XP Professional (not home it wouldn't work) and various account setups through "control userpasswords2" |

Thanks. I found a few things experimenting and looking at their help last night. A person can fix it to where they have no control over the keyboard and mouse during the session (say you are concerned someone might try to access the computer while signed in and you are away. (I like that).
It did say that two people controlling isn't possible (I presumed as much, but had wondered). I can't figure out the keyboard thing yet. It works fine from a desktop to laptop or other desktop, but I can't get my Lenovo netbook to type the correct characters. In fact, upon further investigation, when I type a single letter repeatedly, it types consecutive numbers. I don't get that. I found out it can be turned off on the system tray, so I will likely do that when banking or doing such things just to be on the safe side. |
