FTP site, USENET, etc

It seems there is another whole world out there, beyond this Window-ish WWW, that Internet Explorer can see.

I've tried getting into FTP sites, and USENET sites, and I can't make head nor tail of them. I've downloaded a few utilities, like SmartFTP, but can't figure out how to use them.

Is there a primer on all that stuff laying around somewhere?

Thanks

Do a search anywhere, for "blahblah tutorial", and you'll find them.
I have a great tutorial on using FTP on my site, geared toward WS_FTP but usefull for any FTP program, even a few free FTP sites to visit.
USENET is a "whole 'nother ballgame"...try FreeAgent, or NewsXpress (I can get them for you if you have trouble finding them).
Lots of tutorials on the web (google search) for just about any piece of software you can imagine.
Once you're saturated with FTP and USENET, check out IRC, Telnet, ...
