Telnet

If I have a dedicated internet connection at home (DSL), and a dedicated internet connection at work, would it be possible for me to use a telnet session to connect to home computer from work or vice versa? Also, if I have a home network would I be able to access all other machines on the home network via telnet from work? If this is possible, could someone please explain how to do this, or post a link as to how this is accomplished. Thank you in advance.

Yes, very simple.

You need a telnet server running on each machine, and a telnet server. What operating systems are involved here? If these are Unix/Linux machines, they're ready to go already probably, if they're WinNT/2000 machine, you'd need to turn the remote console service on.

They are NT 4.0 SP6 at work and XP for home. Is there certain software required to setup the telnet server? I've been trying to search the web for some info, but I'm a newbie to telnet so alot of it is not decipherable by me. How do you turn on the remote console service? Thanks Xayd for reply.
