Hi all,
I'v just about had enough of dial up,so iv been looking into the 2-way satellite providers.I have read a few good things about it,but I cant find any prices at all.If anyone is using it,and has any input,it will be Greatly appreciated. Price(monthly)? Speeds? Reliabability? Anything at all,im all ears.Thanks.

There are two systems: Hughes' DirectPC and Starband offered via Echostar/Dish Network. Both claim 512 up and down but ping times are nuts - don't expect to game with one of these. Iv'e got a friend who does and I think he's lucky. But he loves the service itself (he's got starband).
The web sites are: DirectPC StarBand One problem that may be presented is that Hughes is selling DirecTV to Echostar -- the deal does not include DirectPC. My bet is Hughes drops DirectPC altogether. -Craig |

thanks for the input.i really need it for gaming mostly, and thought maybe the 2-way would be ok since its has faster uploading times.but then again the signal has to travel a LONG way to get back to me,so i can see where gaming would be hindered.oh,well ill just have to wait and prey for dsl or cable i guess.funny thing is that they ran all the new lines and such around my house about 8 months ago.but still havent heard any dates on service.oh well, thanks again for your info.
