How to keep internet connection going
Is there a way that I can keep my 56k internal winmodem connected without it disconnecting after a certain amount of time? I think I am using IE 4.0 and I have a dial up connection, using prodigy. Would this be something I would have to look at in my prodigy setup?
When I am on the internet and go away for, maybe 15 minutes or so, the connection goes away because there has been no activity. Or if I am downloading a file that is large and there is a problem later on with the transfer, the internet connection goes away, and when I wake up in the morning, I still need to keep downloading. Do you know what I mean? I hope I am making myself clear. Thanks |

Use 'getright'. This program reconnects and also resumes downloads.

I would recommend Download Accelerator. it's better than Getright (in my opinion). You can use some program to ping your ISP so that your ISP thought you're still suffing......... I use Screaming Brocoli

Go to tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, highlight your ISP and click settings, Click advanced in Dial-up box, Change the disconnect if idle value, or you can uncheck the disconnect if idle box, but be aware that if you forget to disconnect after using, your phone line will stay tied up.
