dw.exe ?
I've just noticed anew program loading on my computer, which was not there before xmas.
It is dw.exe, installed in C:\program files\downloadware, with two subdirectories cfg & downloads. downloads is empty. In cfg there are two files, status and user. Anyone know what this is. I have found references to a file dw.exe on the net, but as part of Macromedia products.

Macromedia might have installed some commands to your system to provide feedback to them. You may have also downloaded a spyware program. Programs like comet cursor are spyware. That is, they track your surfing habits, get system info, and send this info to their company via the internet.
You can download programs like cookie cop and ad aware to remove spyware programs. Ad aware is totally freeware, and is available from lavasoft's website. http://www.lavasoft.de/downloads.html . Hope this helps. |

Downloadware is a class of freesoftware. The term DW.exe shows hit for software dealing with banking, Disk Wizard Cd software, and a European PayPal type service for web pages.
