intrusion problem

I recently installed PWS on Win98SE, paused it so I could connect with the Internet via modem without anyone logging on to it.
I then had a report from Norton Firewall that a computer was trying to access my Win32 Network services - I runa home network. This was a repeated message, from computer 61.220.158.90. I don't know what this, so I've put it on a permanent block, so I can use my internet connection without repeated annoying messages. Can someone tell me what was going on?
Ta!

Norton Firewall is basiclly the old @Guard firewall, and it has to be taught which sites to allow/disallow. A better firewall and it is Free is SygatePE from http:/www.sygate.com/ with it you have the ability to backtrace a ping easily to see where it is coming from. In this case the firewall message you got was probably a normal ping.

Thanks for that. Norton Firewall does have some annoying features; but this message was a new one, which is why I was concerned.

What about Zone Alarm Pro?

I downloaded a trial version and it has been blocking access to my PC. The thing that I dislike is that the only info I get about the "intruder" comes in numerical data (IP addresses) so I don't know if it's blocking those annoying spyware programs or something useful.

But I have noticed less adware appearing while I'm surfing.

Does anyone use this ZAP? I'd like to read some comments.
