Netscape question
When I was having problems with my browser earlier, I downloaded the new Netscape 6.2 and things seem better now. The only thing, is that I assumed the new Netscape would over-write the older Netscape version I have on my computer...for some reason it didn't. Can I delete the older version without affecting the newer one?? Or will I have to reinstall the newer version. The older one is causing some conflicts with the newer one.
I don't know if this belongs in this category, but I also have two other programs that didn't over-write: Adobe Acrobat 4 didn't over-write to 5. And I've got DirectX 8 now, and noticed DirectX Media Runtime 5 in my programs list...is this an older version? I'd like to know if it would be okay to uninstall the older versions of these as well. Thanks in advance .

I've gotten in trouble more than once for overwriting NS. What I do is make a copy of bookmark.htm and the addresses for mail. After newer NS installed, I uninstall the older. Has worked many times.

Have you found where to delete the cache, cookies and history files on 6.2? I couldn't find 'em, but only tried once. Another reason why...

Yeah, hit "edit" then "preferences". Click on the arrow next to Navigator and History is 1st on the list. The history menu allows you to clean History and Location bar. Cache is under "Advanced". It too, is 1st on the drop-down list. It allows you to clean "Memory cache and disk cache". I hope this helps, Sarge.

That's odd, Sarge. Your preferences aren't under edit???

Yes, it's like that, but couldn't make the rest work. Duh, guess I should have clicked the little gray arrow next to advanced, rather than the word itself. Another reason why...

Never got that far before I uninstalled. Mail didn't work right. Have to keep using one of the older versions.
But I'm assuming it's in your profile. Open windows explorer, programs, Netscape, users and rt click the profile and explore. If it's not there, as in other versions, it's another reason why... |

Mozilla?? Oh, that's right, NS uses that engine, or whatever the techno term is. AOL, Netscape and Time Warner. What a combo.
