Internet freeze up
Happy New Year Everyone!!! I've got a problem that when I'm on the Internet my computer will freeze up. It could be after 5 min. or 45 min. It completely freezes up. I can't even use the "ctrl+alt+del" I have to turn off the computer and restart it. I even shut down every program running except for Explorer and Sys tray, and it still freezes up. I reloaded the TCP/IP, which made no difference.
I unloaded my Nvaidia driver and reinstalled the M$ VGA driver and it seemed to run fine. What I don't understand is why would the driver act up only when I'm on the internet and not when I'm just on the computer running everyday programs? I have a Motorola Sb4100 cable modem. 256k, and running at about 80% free system resources. Does any one have any idea what I can try? Thanks, Jim |

If you're saying that changing to a standard video driver solves your problem, then you'll want to investigate getting the latest driver for your video card.
The random nature of your problem just says that depending on what images your video card has to render will determine how much it has to "work" or use up resources. Not surprising on the Internet since there are all types of web pages and services out there which display all different kinds of images. |

Sounds like you got a fan cooling problem.
Check inside the box with the PC switched on & check for heat build up or a sticky fan on the CPU &/or card. |
