Deleting e-mail...not so easy!!!

Hi Everybody,

I was sent an e-mail at Christmas with smiley faces dancing around and a background jingle playing.
It played once.
Everytime i click on it now Outlook Express freezes. By doing Ctrl+Alt+Del it show Outlook Express (not responding) so i end task, which then closes Outlook Express.
Is there another way of deleting this e-mail except the obvious right click. I have looked in Outlook Express on the C: drive and i know the e-mails are stored in the .dbx file. But i don't want to get rid of them all. Just the one e-mail. Is there a way of doing this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. Don't know if this will work but...

you can try selecting a few e-mails surrounding this one, delete them all, then restore the others before exiting. Might work.

Hi,

You could also try to disable the outlook express preview pane, so it won't try to preview to the message when you click on it. Instructions on how to do this, can be found here:

Not sure if this will do the trick, but it's worth a shot. Hope this helps.

Hi Cheryl_2 and Floppyman.

Have tried deleting as a block (with more than one e-mail) but as soon as the offending e-mail highlights the same thing happens.

There is no attachment to this e-mail, and when clicking on it to show in the Preview pane there is absolutely nothing there now, it just freezes OE. It was sent from a trusted friend and i also have the latest Norton's AV with all the latest updates.

Will continue reading the link Floppyman and see what else it says.

Thanks.

Talking

Hello Electron,

Go to the folders list in OE. Right click on "Inbox". Select find. Fill in the the name of the email you want to delete then click on "Find Now". You will see the header for the email in the box that comes up below the search field. Click on EDIT/Delete. Should take care of it! Also be sure to empty the deleted items folder too. KW1

Hmmm

Was the dancing doodiddy thing done with Java? You might have disabled Java temporarily to inspect it, then delete it. Just because it came from trusted freind don't mean it wasn't a malicious mail, maybe he just forwarded it when he saw it.
