1. Draw your button.
2. highlight your button and go to: Insert > Convert to Symbol, and then type a name for your button and choose the button option.
3. Double click the button, a new time line will appear, click on each frame (Over, Down, Hit) and press F6 and modify the frame the way you like.
4. Return to the main movie by going to: Edit > Edit Movie.
5. Right click the button, choose Actions, then choose the getURL action, type the URL of your file, and the button is finished.

HTH

Hmm, why do you want to do this? If the file already exists on your hard drive, why do you want to download it again?
Try using file:///C|\dir\file as the URL.

you need shockwave / director for this (macromedia products)

i think maybe there is a way to make flash "play" locally, but, it is intended for use over the internet. i once did a presentation for a client using flash, he was looking for a cool animated PowerPoint presentation with sound, so, i used flash for the entire project and saved it as a projector file (a flash file that is self-playing, ends in .EXE) and burned it onto a CDR for him. The catch here, is that unless your entire CD is all in Flash, just making part of the menu in Flash and the rest in whatever may not work.

something to try is on pressing the menu button use the getURL action to get a file local to the CD. I honestly don't know if that will work or not.

shockwave/director is intended for Multimedia CD based presentations, among other things.

just go to "expert" mode and type it in the way you want it. (should be an arrow on the upper right corner of the actionscript window that lets you toggle to expert mode)
