IE Can never find a page and "IE couldn't open the search page" always pops up

Everytime I go to a website (I'm on a different computer), a little message box pops up and says "IE couldn't open the search page" I don't know what the search page is or why it was even supposed to be opened, but it can't find it. I can't get any page to open, I have windows 98 and IE 5.5, any suggestions?

Hi sjaguar13,

Check out this MSKB article on restoring the default IE search page. Hope that helps.

Check your DNS server settings, seems like you've either got them wrong, or your ISP has got problems. Also try openning a DOS PROMPT and pinging your DNS server .. try these in order

ping your dns server

ping www.yahoo.ca

ping 216.115.109.7

Send a message via Yahoo to azscary
Who is your ISP? Is Client for Microsoft Networks installed in your components and is it the Primary Network Logon in the Networks folder? Are you dialup, DSL, cable or Network access? Have you tried deleting the cookies, temporary internet files and offline content in IE to clear the cache??
