Web page

I have finally got my server working(I Think). I'm running Win98SE and PWS 4.0.
PWS makes an"automatic" web page when you start. I went with this and today I finally got to publish my own web page that my wife built using Frontpage 2000. I had a hell of time getting it to publish, but I did! Now what happens is when I enter my domain name www.teeb.ca the "automatic" page still opens and MY page is found under "view my published documents".
Can anyone tell me how I can get MY page to come up when you enter my domain name instead of the "Ahtomatic" one?
Thanx for the help!!

Hi Teeb,
I am not sure what you are saying here.
When I go to the page, I see a frame page with banner, contents and main page.
There does not seem to be anything wrong!?
Are you sure you gave your server time to update? Sometimes they show old files or a mixture of new and old. Then, suddenly, everything works.

If you create a document or a page then name it index.htm then upload it as that file name this should be the first page people see when they go to your site.

do you see a link on the left that says "View My published documents"? If so click on that and then on "welcome to our home page" !! If you see a picture of a man and a woman, that's the one I want to come up first. Or is that what you see when my site first opens??

http://www.teeb.ca/webpub/index.html

open the webpub folder and right click on welcome_to_our_homepage.htm and chose rename. Then you can rename it to index.html

I may be wrong with my last post. I think with Microsoft Personal Web Server you would have to rename it default.htm Sorry

Your on the right track! What I think the problem is, is that the web page published to c:\Inetpub\webpub instead of \wwwroot. Because I renamed the default file in wwwroot and now the page won't display. When I rename it to "default" it goes back.

Front page will not let me publish to http://www.teeb.ca\inetpub\wwwroot.

Now what???

An update. I went to explore and using drag and drop I moved the folder containing the web page from weppub to wwwroot. I then dragged all the files from the web page folder to the root of wwwroot. I then renamed the our home page to "default" and renamed the existing default file to "teeb" and now everything works.

This is clearly not the way it's supposed to be done, but it has accomplished what I wanted to do. I sure would like to learn how to do it the proper way!!

OK...watching this thread is becoming painful.... people....FrontPage SUCKS. I mean in a painfully draining way that almost makes Microsoft Bob look like a good idea. Yes, its THAT bad. And yes, I know you all think I am that annoying Mac guy (which I am) but please trust me on this...FrontPage is a horrible bastardization of a WYSIWYG HTML editor.

I do this professionally (amongst my other jobs) and I use Macromedia's Dreamweaver 4, and BBEdit to actually go into the code of the HTML (Homesite is the Windows equivalent.) Teeb, go to Macromedia's website and download a free 30 day trial of this program NOW! It will not hold your hand as much as FrontPage will, but it is a MUCH better UI and makes infinitely better code than Fropntpage (which makes horrible code using MS specific tags that MUST be served off of a frontpage enabled server and so on and so on and so on.)

Feel free to ask me for help, i may not be a genius, but, i do know what i am talking about. (well...sometimes)

not that you want to see my work, but, just to proove i am not fulla El Crapo, i did this site------> Trachtenberg Music entirely in Flash 5, Dreamweaver 4, Photoshop & BBEdit. Creating frames and such are insanely easy in this program.
