This is a question I have as part of a assignment at school. I need at least two reply's. What is the HTML tag < U >, < /U > used for? What is its name and what features it would add to a web page.
Thanks in advange for any replies. Klutz_monger Last edited by klutzmonger; 01-29-2002 at 08:38 PM. |

Hi klutz_monger,
The U tag underlines the text it surrounds. For example, Code:
<U>Hello there!</U> Code:
Hello there!

In addition, the <U> tag is rarely used since it is pretty easy to confuse it with hyperlinks that are generally underlined. The tag while not officially deprecated, will soon be and be replaced by stylesheets.

Sorry to argue here, but the tags have been deprecated by the W3C under the strict HTML 4.01 specification.
