Cable/DSL tweak experiences
The roadrunner site says that the receive window size should be 8760. But all the tweak sites recommend a lot higher.
This site says to change it to 32767. And that it's the only setting that matters. I tried numerous other settings on my win98 computer and it did seem faster. http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/ This site recommends an even higher rcvwindow size. And some other tweaks as well. http://www.speedguide.net/ My windows XP computer's default is 64240. I'm planning to do some tweaking again and would like some input on everyone's experiences. I used to be the kind of person who would try every tweak to see which ones work. This forum has made me lazy .

Probably won't see much improvement with XP. 95/98 yes, since they both kinda assume a dialup connection and therefore a small packet size.
Not as much an issue with XP/NT/2000, though. |

As Xyad said, I noticed a big improvement with my 98 PC, www.pcpitstop.com increased the buffer to 60 some thousand. XP didn't need any tweaking per pitstop.
