You're right, all you have to do is link it to the pdf. I don't know for sure about the .doc file, but I'm assuming it's done the same way.

If someone clicks a link for a file, that file opens (if they have the program installed on their pc, ie for .pdf file, they will need to have the reader or full program already installed on their computer). If you (or they) want to save the file, they should right click & choose "save target as". This will have them save the file to their harddrive. Again, they will need to have the prog installed to open the file.

Hi Cherly
Thanks for that info, I guess I am not being particualarly clear. I know now how to get a doc to open on the screen. But you know those sites that have click here to download file, and then a box opens asking you do you want to save this file to you hard drive?? With out the file opening on the screen, ??? Thats what I am after. For instance whats the code on a web site for downloading a zip file or am I being amazingly stupid and not getting that its the same for everything? Cheers and thanks folks O |

ahhh...I see what you're after now...unfortunately, I don't know the answr.
![]() I don't think there's any html code to do what you're trying to do. Most of the download files have .exe extensions (at least the ones I've downloaded) which may have something to do with it, but that's just a guess! Good luck! |
