Internet Sharing
Ok. I know how to network two computers with ethernet and NIC's. And I guess I know the basics of hooking the internet end into one computer and sharing through the ethernet. But I've never actually networked (only seen videos and read articles about it)
So my question is, what type of software would I need to be running on both machines to share an internet connection, and files for that matter. Can I still use Windows 98? ME? XP? Compatability? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jon. |

The main PC (the one that is actually hooking to the internet) needs to be at least Windows 98 Second Edition. The second PC can be Windows 95, Windows 98, anything really. Not sure if Windows 3.1 would work or not though but you probably don't have that dinosaur anyway.

Win98SE if you want to use ICS. If you don't have 98SE or don't want to use ICS then try "proxy" from www.analogx.com ....excellent "readme" file included!
Jon, www.practicallynetworked.com has excellent information on internet sharing including a step by step tutorial. |
