IE 5.5 Cache Settings Problem

Howdy

I am trying to set my cache size in Internet Explorer 5.5 (Win 95) under
Tools/Internet Options/General/ Temporary Internet Files/Settings.

At present the cache is set to zero (zip) and IE 5.5 won't let me change it !
Any value of cache size in MB is rejected and I get the message :
"Please enter a value between 1 and O for the number of MB to use" ?

What is the logic behind this ? Surely it doesn't want a decimal point ?
Does this have anything to do with the graduated slider bar on the left of the
cache size value field ? Like what does the slider bar do ? Is it supposed to
vary the cache size up and down as it is moved (in which case it isn't working)?

If I click on the up and down arrows on the right of the cache size field the value varies from 0 to 10 or vice versa. It doesn't matter what value I enter, 10 or whatever I still get that dumb message. Am I doing something wrong here ?

I have tried the IE repair function with no joy. Is there any way around this without uninstalling and reinstalling ?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanx

Hello AzScary

Good point. It's time I tried out IE 6.0 .

I was going to get back to you and reply on the first thread
but I've been too busy. I have been using Opera 5.12 which
is nice and fast (more bugs than my back yard unfortunately
though) and the cacheing seems to work OK (most of the time).

Thanks also for your other help and advice. I'll give IE 6.0
a whirl.

cheers
