I setup a website to use to show some Flash I was making. I have had several to look
at the site and find that none of the gif files shows up on there PC's. The gif was made with Photoshop and unloaded with WSFTP. Coffeecup was the editor used. On my PC the site looks OK. How can it be different on their PC's with all using IE5.5? The gif's that are missing are down the left side and at the top of the page. I would say that they never was uploaded, but they show up on mine. Second, A couple of the Flash movie's don't work properly on the other PC's and fine on mine. I'm very confused. Thanks. Here is the site if you care to look. slholmes.cjb.net |

Hmm... try reuploading them again. Otherwise make sure your coding is all correct. And for the flash, make sure they all have flash 5.0 , which you can download (it installs by itself very easily) at www.flash.com .. goodluck

There are some known problems with using gifs on AOL. So check to see what their ISP is. Also what browser are they using? Netscape occasionally has some path problems displaying images.

Yes you should check your work with the most common browsers such as Netscape and Internet Explorer being used before uploading to your site. Most web publishing software will allow you to check your work (open) with different brosers.

Hi pc_nut,
I would recommend double checking the html code and verify the source of the missing images. For example, I noticed your banner gif can't be viewed. It seems as though the code is pointing at your hard drive: C:\program files/coffeecup software/working/ban1.gif In order for it to work properly, it should read something like this: http://home.earthlink.net/~slholmes/ban1.gif This type of error is very misleading and difficult to notice right away. When you preview the page from YOUR machine, everything looks fine because the browser has access to the C: drive, regardless of the browser you use. However, when someone else views the page they don't see anything because we can't access your hard drive. Good luck. Last edited by homie27; 02-22-2002 at 08:59 PM. |

That makes a lotta sense to me homie27, since no one around me uses AOL and we all use IE5.5. I use to do a little of this several years ago with a editor and didn't have a lot of problems, but have forgotten it all. Thanks for all the replies.
