AOL riddle?

I have made a really weird observation with AOL 7.0. I "upgraded" to 7.0 when I built my new computer in December and at the same time installed it on my laptop. Anyway, ever since I got my new computer up and running I have been having a lot of trouble with connection speed. I never connect at more than 36K and have connected as low as 9600. I thought maybe it was a modem issue, so I dialed up with my laptop and the same thing happened. Having one of my bonehead moments, I came to the conclusion that it must have been a phone line issue and I would just have to live with it.

This is where thinks get interesting. I so happen to still have my old HDD hooked up because I have some files left to transfer which so happens to have AOL 6.0 on it. I was getting really frustrated trying to connect so I decided to try to connect via 6.0. Low and behold, I get full connection speed and everything is running just fine. Now what could I have possibly done wrong in the setup make my connection with 7.0 so freakin' horrible. I am totally baffled here. I am dialing into the same number but I get a full connection with 6.0 and 14.4 with 7.0. Anyone have any ideas.

Sounds like it could be an AOhelL problem..I hate AOL. I've never used it, but have friends that have. And it sucks. Get out of it if you can. Run like hell!
