Ever hear of Alpha Shield?
Anyone ever hear of this thing? A guy came around to my shop the other day telling me about this new product and brought me one to evaluate for him. It's supposed to be superior to a router, but so far, I disagree. I was wondering if anyone else has run across one and had any opinions on it.

Never heard of it, but from the web site, I see a lot of generalizations and nothing real specific.
Looks like a good sales pitch with no real meat in the mix. -Craig |

I'm thinking a NAT Router would be much better

Yea... seems to be the general concensus. It doesn't even do NAT. You just plug the thing inline between your modem and machine and you're supposedly done. Not sure this guy is gonna want my review of the thing

From their website:
"All computer users have been hacked before, they just don't know it. As a home user, you could have private information such as important documents, credit card numbers, account numbers, and passwords that can be stolen from you and used against you or someone else. "The majority of computer users think that turning their computer off will prevent this from happening. However, those with broadband connections, subscribers using DSL or Cable modems can still be attacked due to their constant connection." Huh? Sounds like playing to irrational fears to me. |
